I find that morning works well in places like this as tourists always stay up late at night, making it nearly impossible to get a clear shot, whereas in the morning they are sleeping away and I can happily click without distraction.

When we went by the Hyatt, we learned the trivia that it was limited to only 16 stories so that, as the sun made its way to the West, there would not be an afternoon shadow cast upon the Alamo two blocks away. The Alamo, which plays prominently in Texas history, was a Catholic mission.

The Riverwalk has also been a location for movies. The stage on which the beauty pageant of “Miss Congeniality” staring Sandra Bullock, and the steps Jennifer Lopez sat on in “Salina” are not far from each other.

The cruise along the San Antonio River will not rival the wonderful Chicago architectural river tour, but it is great fun… especially during times of fiesta such as Christmas or Cinco de Mayo when everything is decorated.
